Interactive Calendar for Smart Board

In an effort to incorporate the new Common Core Standards, standards for mathematical practices and daily numeracy practice into my math curriculum I have created monthly theme-based interactive calendar files in Smart Notebook for my Kindergarten class. Language Arts Lesson - March Daily Writing Journal for Primary

Daily Primary Writing Journal - April Theme

In an effort to incorporate the new Common Core Standards and provide daily writing opportunities for my students, I have created daily writing pages for my Kindergarten class.  This monthly set can be used day-by-day or can be put together in a book using the cover provided.  Posters can be posted each day to single the type of writing that is expected. 

This set includes:

22 different daily writing pages for April

in both color and black/white,

1 journal cover in both color and black/white,

5 posters with “I can…” statements for each day’s expectations in both color and black/white.

Teaching Math with Playing Cards

I have updated and expanded a great product.

This is a great unit for working on basic Math skills 

with a variety of primary aged children.

Playing card games involve Math skills. This is obviously inherent 
in the fact that there are numbers printed on almost every basic 
playing card. In this book there are simple tips on how to get 
cheap or free decks of playing cards, and how to manage playing 
cards in the classroom. I have also included instructions on how 
to play card games that are easy for Primary aged children, 
and are good for building basic Math skills. 

This unit has two types of card activities. Partner games, and 
individual worksheet activities. The first part includes 
organizational tips and lists the rules for using cards. There is no 
need for pen and pencil in these activities. Building strong Math 
skills can involve drill and repetition, but you can also reinforce 
these ideas by playing card games.

The second type of card activities involve worksheets. They are 
meant to be completed by a single child with a deck of cards of 
their own. The instructions for these are written on each page. 
I have also included a cover page which can be used to cover a
booklet or folder of these worksheets.

Writing Ratios Partner Activity

No prep! In this fun partner activity, students each complete ten ratio problems and match their answers to discover how to color the balloons. The coloring makes this activity super easy to check for accuracy, too. Aligned to CCSS 6.RP.1, but great for 7th and 8th grade review, too. Answer key included.
