FREE MISC. LESSON - “Fourth of July Clipart FREEBIE”

by CrunchyMom
Pre-Kindergarten - 12th Grade

4th of July Clipart FREEBIE

In this July Fourth clipart freebie you'll find a sample of images from my larger Fourth of July Clipart Set and my Fourth of July Digital Papers Set. Brightly colored and finished with a watercolor clipart feel, this fun set will give you a taste of what you will find. Included are 2 digital papers, stars and stripes, and 4 hand-drawn color images with white-filled blacklines for a total of 10 images in this Independence Day clipart freebie!

You can also find Independence Day stars and Fourth of July Game Boards in my shop!

Images included in this set:

  • red balloon
  • star sunglasses
  • watermelon slice
  • 2 digi papers, stars and stripes

All pieces are high resolution 300 dpi PNG images on transparent backgrounds and can easily be layered into your projects and lesson materials.

What Are Doodle Clips? Doodle Clips are images created from sketching traditionally (on paper), inking (blackline), then coloring either traditionally (with markers, pencils, or paint) or digitally. They tend to have a much more organic feel, and AREN'T composed of perfectly straight lines. There is beauty in imperfection, which is what I love most about Doodle Clips!

FREE MATH LESSON - “July Calendar Math - in PowerPoint - Morning Meeting - interactive”

by Mrs Magee
Kindergarten - 2nd Grade

***Want to know if this calendar math bundle is for you? Please read Which Calendar Math is right for you? to learn about the differences between my SmartBoard calendars and my PowerPoint calendars as well as free samples of each!***

**PLEASE READ ENTIRE DESCRIPTION BEFORE PURCHASING! THANK YOU!**

I am a big believer in the importance of daily review of critical early math skills. You can see a HUGE difference in math skills between students who engage in calendar math every day and those who do not.

This product contains a ZIP file containing four items:
* July Calendar Math PowerPoint for use WITH any interactive white board (32 slides)
* PDF Manual of Directions for using with an interactive white board (32 pages)
* July Calendar Math PowerPoint for use WITHOUT an interactive white board (32 slides)
* PDF Manual of Directions for using without an interactive white board (32 pages)
(*which is why the total number of pages in the description comes to 128)

The reason this can be used with any interactive white board OR without is that these files do not reply on any specific interactive white board software. ALL you need is Microsoft PowerPoint.

If using this WITH an interactive white board, simply open the appropriate file, read and follow the directions, and use with your interactive board tools.

If using this WITHOUT an interactive white board (but WITH a projector), open the file on your computer, read and follow the directions, and students will come to your computer to work with the calendar.

**If you are a homeschooler without a projector, you can open this on your laptop or computer in PowerPoint and use it in a homeschool or one-on-one setting.

The calendar itself consists of 26 slides that review important math skills essential for building math fluency and establishing good classroom management. You can omit any slides you want to. The slides include:

1. Morning Message/DOL
2. Classroom Rule review
3. School-wide Expectations review
4. July monthly song (lyrics, no music)
5. July monthly calendar
6. What's the date?
7. Days in School
8. Building Numbers (base ten blocks)
8. Odd and Even song (lyrics, no music)
9. Odd and Even (with the day of the month)
10. Pattern of the Day
11. What time is it?
12. What's the weather?
13. Comparing Numbers
14. Fact Families
15. Money (includes U.S. coins and directions on how to use other currency if needed)
16. U.S. coin poems
17. More and Less (identifying 1 and 10 more and 1 and 10 less
18. Skip Counting (by whatever amount you choose)
19. Add it Up (adding with dice)
20. Add it Up (adding with ten frames)
21. Subtract It
22. Part-Part-Whole
23. Super Problem (introducing adding multi-digit numbers)
24. Class Birthday Graph
25. Class Lost Tooth Graph

*Plus there is an empty slide in the monthly theme colors so you can add your own questions/tasks.

You may (or may not) know that when running a PowerPoint file in slide show mode, you cannot drag object around on the page which is necessary on some of these slides. This is why I provide detailed instructions on how to use these calendars while NOT running this in slide show mode.

I have put a lot of effort into writing the directions so PLEASE take the time to read them!

If you are a whiz with technology and PowerPoint, you'll likely find using these calendars a breeze.

If you are a teacher that is unfamiliar with PowerPoint and not comfortable with technology BUT you have a desire to learn and to give your students opportunities to engage with technology then the directions included should help you achieve that goal. You may find some things tricky, but I promise if you keep trying and don't give up you CAN use these calendars successfully! The more you interact with them, the easier it will all become. (Not trying to scare any one off, but I do want to be realistic in saying that if you are not familiar with PowerPoint you may have to work a little harder at mastering use of these calendars than someone who has been using PowerPoint extensively for years.)

If you already own my SmartBoard Calendar Math files or bundle, you do not need to purchase this. This is primarily for people who do NOT have a SMARTBoard by SmartTechnologies.

If you have read this far, bless you for following directions! You get a gold star!

FREE LANGUAGE ARTS LESSON - “Reading Log: Record, Track & Remind”

by Peacock Projects
2nd - 6th Grade

This weekly reading log allows students to think about their reading, set goals and track progress. Help keep students reading and parents focused to their student's learning. Use for elementary students to record independent reading in class and at home.

• • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • •

SKILLS & STRUCTURE:

Parent/Student Announcement & Guidelines for Class Reading: Outlines all the specific details, goals, use, and examples for reading in class.

Parent/Student Announcement & Guidelines for Home Reading: Second part of parent/student announcement that provides specific information and expectations for reading at home.

Reading Contract: Student reading commitment letter for both student and parent to read and sign. Designed to set expectations early and clearly.

Reading Log for Class: Records independent reading completed in class. Includes space for title, author, pages, and minutes read. Students evaluate how difficult they personally found comprehension. There is a "read-o--meter" so students can track their progress on a graph. This log strongly encourages students to choose materials beyond books: newspapers, magazines, online resources, poetry, historical documents, etc.

Reading Log for Home: Records nightly reading at home. Includes sections for title, author, pages read and minutes read. Student are asked to evaluate their book.

• • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • •

GOAL SETTING & DAILY TRACKING:
Gives students an opportunity to set a reading goal (in minutes) each week and mark their progress towards that goal. Goals are met through a combination of independent reading in class, nightly assignments and “extra effort”. The “extra effort” section rewards students motivated to read on weekends and holidays. There is a reading contract included that requires student and parent signature.

• • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • •

EVALUATION PROMPTS & STUDENT RATING SYSTEMS:
Students are also asked to rate the difficulty for text read in class and enjoyment for books read at home. The rating system allows instant feedback for students, teachers and parents. Built-in instant feedback tools help everybody stay engaged. Emoticons are used for each day's reading to further evaluate the reading experience.
