Math; Grades 4-7

This seven page handout has 11 ways to practice recognizing fractional parts, naming equivalent fractions, identifying basic percents (25%, 50%, 75% 100%), and reducing fractions to lowest terms. It is a fun and engaging way to practice math and keep the students actively involved. Specific words are given. If each fractional part is correctly identified, when the students write the fractional parts on the lines provided, a new word is created. Each group of new words becomes a snow riddle or answer.

By Sndyer Classroom
Math; Grades 4-6

Engage your students with these self-checking QR code multiplying decimals worksheets, and students love checking their work on their devices. Includes 6 worksheets with a total of 48 multiplying decimals problems. Each problem also has a grid box in which to solve the problem and an accompanying QR code that reveals the answer. QR codes allow students to self-check their work.

ELA/Writing; Grades 7-10

This four-passage text set is accompanied by an argumentative prompt regarding the topic of cell phones in the classroom. It's a perfect assignment to engage typically students of all ability levels due to the interesting topic. It will also strengthen your students experience with the idea of using the text to support their writing, rather than their own personal experiences.  Modeled after AIR Testing, which is used in numerous states across the country, it would also fit well into a PARCC simulation. The text set, itself, is 7 pages long.

With over 20 compliments and 15 improvement suggestions, the conference card will help guide what to say during a writing conference with your students! Just like when you scaffold and model the requirements for an essay in a mini-lesson, you do the same thing individually for each student through conferencing. Conferencing will help you deliver differentiated instruction.

FREE LANGUAGE ARTS LESSON - “Guided Reading - Grade 3 The First National Park/National Parks”

by readingwarmupsandmore
3rd Grade

Guided Reading and More

Grade 3 - USA

"The First National Park" / "National Parks"

Paired Readings: Nonfiction with Poem

Introduction and Purpose

This handout is intended for use by teachers and students in grade 3. Many states measure achievement in reading by assessing student progress on benchmark objectives identified in their state standards. This handout provides teachers with a fiction or nonfiction reading passage paired with poems to help assess student knowledge of reading objectives for students in grade 3.

Instructions for using the selections as guided reading practice are included with this set of passages. They are designed to provide teachers with before, during, and after reading lesson plans to help guide students through the selections.

The poem paired to a fiction or nonfiction passage has a similar theme or topic. Fiction passages include narratives and realistic fiction. Nonfiction passages include informational and content area selections.

Multiple choice as well as short and extended answer questions follow each set of paired selections. Each question is designed to assess a specific reading objective.

This set of passages can also be used as a stand alone assessment piece without the lesson plans. Students independently read and complete the passages and question items. The teacher can then either score the assessment passages apart from the students and report back to them as to how they performed or the teacher can score the passages in class together with the students allowing for immediate feedback and discussion.

Included in this handout is an answer key. The answer key tells the correct multiple choice answers and examples of best-score short and extended written response answers. A scoring rubric for written responses is included in this handout as well.

Also included in this handout is a bibliography if needed, a list of grade 3 reading objectives tested, acknowledgements, and a list of higher level vocabulary found in each passage.
