Glyphs have many benefits, including:
★promoting critical thinking and problem-solving skills
★following directions
★gathering, depicting, and analyzing data
★incorporating art and self-expression
★allowing students to share about each other in a unique way
★THEY’RE FUN to create and to decipher!

In addition to the above-mentioned benefits, this glyph:
★incorporates writing and fine-motor skills (Students cut and paste to build the glyph, then write clues)
★is differentiated- 2 levels
★can be used as a whole-group hunt

Hope you enjoy and have a wonderful year!

ELA/Writing; Grades 7-10

This three-passage text set is accompanied by an argumentative prompt regarding the topic of the use of social media in hiring and firing practices in the workplace. It's a perfect assignment to engage students, especially as students start to become more aware of the significance of the role of social media in the world around us. While many students might have personal opinions, this assignment will strengthen your students experience with the idea of using the text to support their writing, rather than their own personal experiences, since that is what is required. Modeled after AIR Testing, which is used in numerous states across the country, it would also fit well into a PARCC simulation. The text set, itself, is 5-1/2 pages long.

FREE MISC. LESSON - “Free Parent and Caregiver Handout about Suicide”

by Whimsy in School Counseling
5th - 12th Grade

Suicide is an important topic in schools. By helping parents and families gain the skills to talk about suicide when necessary, we help more students stay alive. It's unfortunate we have to talk about suicide sometimes, but as Andrea Gibson said, "sometimes the scales themselves weigh far too much." It's a lot better we talk about it than it stay a stigmatized, unspoken worry. This handout helps parents gain the knowledge and skills to talk about suicide. Use to supplement a family meeting or referral for services, or use on its own to grow parent understanding of mental health symptoms. This is a forever freebie because these conversations are important, and we need as many resources at our finger tips as possible.

FREE MATH LESSON - “Quack Attack Shake and Spill”

by Math Coach's Corner
Pre-Kindergarten - 2nd Grade

Shake and Spill is a great little game for providing concrete practice with composing and decomposing numbers. It can be adapted for small numbers or larger ones. Here's a tip--put the Shake and Spill mat in something enclosed (a letter tray, box lid, etc.) to prevent the "spillage" from going everywhere!

The accompanying printables extend the activity to the representational (drawing) and abstract (symbols) stages.

Be sure to rate this product and provide feedback to earn TpT credits good toward the purchase of future products!
