This turkey glyph for Thanksgiving time is an excellent activity for reading and following directions, and requires problem solving, communication, and data organization. Students color or put different items on a turkey based on information about themselves. Students are to finish the turkey glyph using the seven listed categories.

FREE LANGUAGE ARTS LESSON - “Thanksgiving Writing | Fix It Up Sentences FREEBIE”

This is a one page Thanksgiving resource. It has a simple story including five sentences. The sentences are not written correctly. The first letter in each sentence is not capital, important names are not capitalized, and the ending punctuation is missing. Have your students rewrite each sentence correctly. Begin each sentence and important names with a capital letter and add the correct ending punctuation. The sentences used contain frequently used sight words and other decodable words that students should be able to read. These activities are great for morning work, literacy centers, or for a quick mini lesson on including capital letters and ending punctuation in sentences. Students can read the story to a partner or to the teacher after correcting the sentences. Students could also add other details to the story using the back of their paper.

This PowerPoint has been created to accompany the daily 1st grade Saxon Phonics Grade 1 lessons. It will allow the teacher to get the words and sentences quickly on the board to allow for more focus on the instruction. This download does not include the lesson manual or the student worksheets.

This freebie is the first Saxon Lesson. It comes from the week includes the introductions of letters and sounds of t, long and short o, n, and p. You will find a simple presentation for each lesson.
