Expository Compare Contrast Literary Analysis Writing Tasks {Hunger Games Girl on Fire} 
Skills Focus: Characterization and Genre

Compare the beloved Katniss from The Hunger Games to the girl on fire in Alicia Key's song "Girl on Fire." While the song was not written for or about Katniss, it could be her theme song. 

In this essay task pack, students either compare/contrast those characteristics or they analyze how characterization is developed through different genres. The tasks are challenging and ready to go. Your students are sure to be engaged and ready to write on one of the included topics.
