FREE MATH LESSON - “ADDING INTEGERS (Basic) Square Dance Match Game FREE”

by Kacie Travis
6th - 8th Grade

"Swing your card, round and round..." :)
This fun and challenging integer edge-matching puzzle is a great activity for:
• extension/enrichment activity
• assessment
• easy sub-day plans
• short class period
• reward/fun day
• partner/small group work
• competition challenge.
Just copy a sheet for each individual/pair/group onto card stock or colored paper. Laminate for long term use. Cut, place in a baggie or envelope, and distribute. Teams will match the edges of their cards until all edges match with an equivalent expression. The final solution will be a 3 x 3 grid that matches the original document, so be sure to print yourself one as a key.
Use the letters as a spot check guide as you walk the room or have students copy the letter sequence onto their answer sheet to turn in. (Letters are turned various directions so students cannot easily figure out which way cards should face. Additionally challenging, each outer edge has teaser expressions.)
This version also contains a helpful song to help students remember the rules for adding integers.
