Drama Circles are such a fun way to practice oral reading fluency, reading with expression, elements of drama, listening skills, following instructions, and performance skills, all in one cooperative learning activity! This Fairy Tale themed drama activity has a similar format to the “I Have / Who Has” Games and will have your students begging to try it over and over again.
Each fairy tale card is similar to a task card in that it has an instruction for students to say or perform (or both). Students will assemble in a circle and each student will be given a card (some students may receive more than one card). When it is a student’s turn to perform the card, they will step into the circle, perform the instructions on the card, and step back. This fun drama game continues until the last card is acted out.

Your students will love “acting out” with these drama circles, and they are the perfect way to build community in your classroom. Watch your students’ confidence grow as they perform more drama circles throughout the year. My students always ask to each drama circle a second time as soon as we finish – they switch out the cards on their own, and we’re ready to go again.
Prep is quick and easy... Just print the student pages and cut out the cards. It’s LIGHTS, CAMERA, ACTION after that.
