Move around and have some fun with this following directions activity that gets kids up and moving. Contains 16 cards with illustrations. Each card contains a one step direction. Easily customize the activity to make more complex by combining 2-3 cards and having kids follow more multi-step sequential directions. You could also add additional details (for example if card says “clap” – you could make more complex by saying “clap 3 times”). I like to use this activity to address listening, following directions and staying on task. It also provides a great opportunity to get up and move. This activity is perfect for teletherapy to allow our kids to get up and stretch and move around while addressing following directions goals. Even if kids do not have particular goals for following directions, it is an often requested and fun “brain break”.
These cards are a good size for using when having to hold up picture cards to share with your students in teletherapy. I use these in sessions when I am unable to screenshare in online lessons. They are also easy to use and share as pdfs in screensharing sessions if you have that capability. Finally, when we are able to work directly with our students again, these will be nice to use in circle time lessons and small group sessions. I hope you enjoy them and find them useful.
