These reading handouts will help students take steps to close read and understand how to use symbols to mark or annotate text as they read. Students can use sticky notes to mark text in books that can't be marked up or write on passages in standardized tests where allowed. Helps students with metacognition and to think while they read.
Students may also design their own symbols in addition to the suggestions on the sheet. You can print these out and have students put in their interactive notebooks or journals or make posters with them for your reading or literacy center.
Digital and Printable Resource: Includes an Easel Activity ready for learning with digital tools. Assign it online in Google Classroom or with a link in any LMS.
