FREE SCIENCE LESSON - “Maker Space FREE Guide to Getting Started”

by Rainbow City Learning
4th - 6th Grade

Maker Spaces, getting their start as community centers with tools, and moving to college campuses and high schools everywhere, are headed for our elementary and middle school classrooms. A maker space is a designated area in which people can experiment, investigate, problem-solve, and design new inventions both collaboratively and independently. They are sometimes also called “hacker spaces” and “fab labs” (“fab” for “fabrication”, although they are also fabulous!)

What a fabulous opportunity your classroom Maker Space can provide for young scientists and engineers to dream, plan, invent, test, and ready their creations for sharing with others.

This free resource provides some basic ideas for getting started on a Maker Space project. Inside you will find teacher notes, supply lists, suggestions for organization and scheduling, and ideas for celebrating finished products.

I hope you will enjoy using this free guide to focus on Science and Engineering Practices in your learning community!
