We are so many versions of ourselves at different points in our lives. This resource is meant to help your students find a perspective on the lives they are living now, and the many versions of themselves yet to come.
Writing a letter to one’s future end of the year self is a pretty common first day/first week activity. “Letters to Future Me” takes that thinking several steps forward by continuing it throughout the year, and then extending it to future selves next year, in high school, college, and adult life. Your students will be asked to consider who they are now, what their successes and failure might be, what goals they are setting, and how they see themselves in the future.
Included in this resource:
- Editable letters to be written during the first week of school, at two stopping points throughout the year, and at the end of the year.
- Templates and samples for “About Me” poetry writing.
- Template for an Interactive Notebook Newspaper glue-in
- Directions and sample for a Bio-Silhouette page.
“Letters to Future Me” would make a great addition to your lesson plans for the first days of school, to the portfolios that your students may be building through the year, and to the keepsakes that they will take away after their year with you.
