Building a positive and nurturing class community is vital for kids to succeed. Through morning meetings, regular group discussions and team building activities children gain confidence sharing their ideas and opinions and they become active listeners and more supportive to their fellow peers.
I have used these fun and engaging 'Getting to know you cards' with many classes over the years and they work well with kids of all ages. They even go down well with fellow teachers as a fun ice breaker activity during teacher training sessions. Just print, laminate and go!

The cards are extremely versatile and can be used in many different ways. You can add them to your morning meetings, attach them to a ring for quick access during transition times or when you have a few extra minutes. You could also print several sets for children to enjoy playing with a partner or small group.
Another way I love to use the cards is through a whole class game which gets kids moving and interacting. Print and display the 'Choice number 1' and 'Choice number 2' signs at opposite corners of your classroom. Read out one card at a time e.g. 'unicorns or mermaids' and then ask kids to choose a side. Kids will also love explaining their choice to their fellow classmates.
