Have fun learning about grammar as you sing along with this
Synonym Song!
This
zipped file contains:
- · one reproducible Classroom Chart
- · one Grammar Rocks! mp3
- · Teacher’s Notes
Using the classroom charts and the mp3’s, you and your
students will be tapping your toes and singing
along to the garage-band beat of
the music with John Navarroli!
The students learn about
how they can make their writing more interesting by exchanging frequently used
words…like “good”… with more interesting
words (synonyms). Kindergarten children
are encourage to talk about the song and play a word game where they change a
single word in a sentence for a synonym.
Grade 1 students are encouraged to apply the skill to journal
writing. By grade 2 students are
reminded to use synonyms for creative writing. Enjoy!
