FREE LANGUAGE ARTS LESSON - “CVC Catch & Release: An Open-Ended Fishing Game”

by Rita Mitchell
Pre-Kindergarten - 1st Grade

Enjoy this freebie and try something different!!

I love using fishing as a way to engage students in practicing their skills. There must be something magical about setting up a pond and adding magnetic fishing poles :)

Additionally, this activity is totally OPEN-ENDED and it is so fun to see what students come up with. You start by creating a set of editable fish with CVC words and CVC nonsense words. Students will catch and read these words. You can ask student to write the words. Then, using dry-erase markers, students change one letter in the word before releasing it back into the pond for someone else to catch.

This activity is part of my newly-updated CVC WORDS BUNDLE but I wanted to let you try it out and see what you think!

As always, I greatly look forward to your feedback!

Happy Fishing,
Rita
