This resource includes rhyming words game cards with four rhyming words game options for "Fame Mouse" by Joshua George (published in 2015). These are hands-on activities which are terrific for whole class lessons, literacy rotations or fast finishers.
There are three different 'twists' in one of the rhyming words games where players either lose their cards, miss a go or have another turn (it is up to the teacher which version is played). Writing prompts and bookmarks are also included. They all include graphics related to the story, "Fame Mouse." Two other bookmarks are included for recording new words learnt or being learned.
"Fame Mouse" is an excellent title for inclusion in a text set with other picture books of a similar theme, for example, "Thelma the Unicorn" or "Pig the Star" (both by Aaron Blabey). "Sugarlump and the Unicorn" by Julia Donaldson may be another picture book for this text set, if the focus is on self-acceptance rather than being famous, or being a star :). Using multiple texts around the same theme supports the development of higher order thinking and deep comprehension when students are encouraged to make intertextual connections.
