FREE LANGUAGE ARTS LESSON - “FREE Kindness Vocabulary Activity: Shades of Meaning & Quote Analysis”

by Secondary Sara
7th - 10th Grade

What does it mean to be “kind”, anyway? How do we know if we are being truly kind, and what would that look like?

Before you delve into a kindness project or unit, use this one-day lesson to:

Explore “shades of meaning”: compare “kind” to several synonyms to infer what it REALLY means
Analyze in context: Read 5 famous quotes about kindness to analyze their meaning AND discuss how each one is still relevant today.
Reflect: 4 embedded reflection questions ask students to define kindness and reflect on its presence in their own lives, as well as society in general.

WAIT! The editable version of this lesson is included in my Vocabulary Epic Bundle for Secondary ELA! Check it out to save on ALL of my current and future vocabulary tools!
