FREE LANGUAGE ARTS LESSON - “Writing (All Types) Activity: Reel in Readers With Magnetizing Hooks”

by Connie
5th - 12th Grade

Middle School and High School students must learn to reel in readers with alluring hooks that grab the readers' interest. In this FREEBIE activity, teachers prepare mini-lessons on writing hooks.

My blog: http://teachitwrite.blogspot.com/2013/03/writing-right-reeling-in-readers.html details ideas for how, when and why teachers should offer mini-lessons on writing interest-catching hooks. Types of Hooks and Choosing the Right Words, both with examples, are two of the topics that are addressed.

This activity is an engaging way to lure students into wanting to write and to keep them writing.
