Pre-Kindergarten - 5th Grade

Do you have a "Star of the Week" or "Star of the Day" in your classroom????

A great way to build classroom community is by highlighting each of your student's during their very own special week. In my classroom, the "Star of the Week" is one of my classroom jobs. Students take home the "Star of the Week" package which includes a poster and a parent letter/rubric. Their job is to decorate it and practise what they are going to say about themselves to the class. I send the package home on Friday before the student's week is going to start and ask that it is returned on Monday. The class is responsible for coming up with 2 stars and a wish for the person's next presentation. This is a great way to obtain a baseline for oral communication at the beginning of the year. The "Star of the Week" also gets to sit on our special bean bag chair during carpet time. I give them a sticker and I try to choose them for "special" jobs as much as possible. The poster works best when enlarged on the photocopier.

Here's what's included in this freebie:

Star of the Week and Star of the Day posters

Parent Letter

Oral Presentation Rubric

2 Mailing Tube Tags (color and BW)

Simply add a mailing tube (I got mine from Staples for $1.97) or large ziploc bag and you are ready to shine the spotlight on your little stars! I even have a red carpet which I roll out for our "Star of the Week" to walk down before they present their poster to the class! So fun!

Your feedback always brightens my day :)
