Integrate your poetry/figurative language teaching with a character education and art lesson! This set of lessons uses the book, "Maya Was Grumpy" to teach about how being grumpy keeps us from the fun parts of life. As we move toward the end of the year, those character education lessons become more and more crucial!
It's also a handy way to practice alliteration and personification, as well as learn about several art lessons like watercolor techniques (wash, wet in wet, dry brush and drop in) and art vocabulary like: translucent, opaque, brightness, value, shade tint, cool, warm, wash.
