This is a comprehension game to be used with The Tale of Despereaux.
- There are 66 game cards included.
- The game cards are divided by the books sections (book 1, book 2, book 3, and book 4) for easy sorting and assignment.
- The skills tested include: inferencing, figurative language, author's purpose, setting, character traits, mood, and basic comprehension.
The task cards may be used for quick, informal assessment. Teachers may use the task cards to ask students questions while they are reading the novel.
Teachers may distribute the cards in small group settings to encourage discussion among the students.
Or, distribute a card to each student and have them read the question to the whole class. Each student should then record their answer on a sheet of paper.
These are just some ideas for different approaches for using the questions included in this game.
